July 22
National Mango Day happens on Monday July 22, 2024.
July 22nd is National Mango Day, and we think that’s something worth celebrating! After all, what’s not to love about mangos? They’re delicious, nutritious, and come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. Read on to learn more about this amazing fruit and how to enjoy it.
Mangoes are part of the drupe family, which includes peaches, cherries, and apricots. They grow on trees and can range in size from around six ounces to four pounds. Mangoes are native to South Asia, but today they’re grown in tropical climates all over the world. In fact, India is the largest producer of mangoes, followed by China, Pakistan, Thailand, and Mexico.
Did you know that there are dozens of different types of mangoes? While there are too many to list here, some of the most popular varieties include Alphonso, Kent, Haden, Ataulfo, and Kesar mangoes. No matter what type of mango you choose, you’re sure to enjoy its sweet flavor and creamy texture.
Mangoes can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Of course, they’re delicious eaten plain as a snack or added to a fruit salad. But they can also be used in savory dishes like curries or grilled chicken salads. Or get really creative and try them in mango cocktails or desserts like mango sorbet or mango cheesecake!
No matter how you choose to enjoy them, mangoes are a delicious and versatile fruit that deserve to be celebrated! So cut yourself a slice (or two) on National Mango Day and enjoy the sweetness of summer. Happy mango eating!
