September 7
National Acorn Squash Day happens on Saturday September 7, 2024.
Acorn squash is a winter squash that looks like a small green or orange pumpkin with a ridged top. Its name comes from its shape; it looks like an acorn! The flesh is sweet and nutty in flavor and slightly drier than other winter squashes like butternut or spaghetti. It can be cooked in many different ways—baked, boiled, sautéed, microwaved—or even eaten raw!
