National Bubble Tea Day: All You Need to Know

What is Bubble Tea?

Bubble tea is a fun, sweet and creamy drink made with brewed tea of your choice (black or green), milk or cream, and tapioca pearls (also known as boba). The tapioca pearls give it the “bubbles” at the bottom of the cup. It can also be flavored with fruit syrups or powders like mango or strawberry. There are so many options when it comes to bubble tea!

How to Make Bubble Tea at Home

Making bubble tea at home can be fun and easy if you have the right ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need: Bubble Tea Kit (includes tapioca pearls, syrup of your choice & straws), Tea Leaves (preferably black), Milk or Cream, Sugar & Ice Cubes. First, boil about 4 cups of water on the stovetop then steep 1-2 tsp of black tea leaves for 3-5 minutes. Next strain the leaves from the hot water and let it cool down until lukewarm. Then pour the lukewarm liquid into a blender along with ¼ cup of sugar and ½ cup of cold milk/cream and blend on a low setting for about 15 seconds until everything is well combined. Now add 2-3 tablespoons of your favorite syrup into a glass filled with ice cubes and fill the remainder of glass with the blended mixture from earlier then stir everything together. Lastly add ½ cup cooked tapioca pearls into your drink using a strainer or slotted spoon then enjoy!
