July 30
National Cheesecake Day happens on Tuesday July 30, 2024.
National Cheesecake Day falls on July 30th each year, and for cheese lovers everywhere, it’s a day to celebrate one of the most delicious and versatile foods in existence. But what is cheesecake, exactly? And where did this delicious treat come from? Let’s take a closer look at this delicious holiday.
The first recorded mention of cheesecake was by the Greek physician Aegimus, who wrote about a cake made with sheep’s milk cheese in the 2nd century B.C.E. It’s believed that this early version of cheesecake was served to athletes during the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C.E. as a way to boost their energy levels.
There are literally dozens of different types of cheesecake out there, from the classic New York-style cheesecake to the more unusual savory varieties. Some common flavors include strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, lemon, lime, chocolate, oreo, and pumpkin.
No matter what your flavor preference is, there’s sure to be a cheesecake out there that you’ll love! So why not celebrate National Cheesecake Day by indulging in a slice (or two) of your favorite variety? Your taste buds will thank you!
