January 16
National Fig Newton Day happens on Tuesday January 16, 2024.
It’s that time of the year again, when we all get to celebrate an iconic snack – the Fig Newton! January 16th is National Fig Newton Day and it’s a great excuse to gather your friends and family together and sample some of the deliciously chewy favorites. Here are some ideas for celebrating this delicious day.
What better way to celebrate than to bake your own figgy treats? There are plenty of recipes on the internet from which to choose, so you can pick one that best suits your baking skills. You can even make them extra special by adding your own twist such as adding dried fruits or nuts. This is a chance to get creative with ingredients and make something delicious!
A milkshake is always a delicious treat, and this one is no exception. Start by crushing up about 8-10 fig newtons into crumbs and set aside for later. Then blend together 2 scoops of ice cream, 1/2 cup of milk, and 4 whole fig newtons until smooth. Pour your milkshake into a glass and top with additional fig newton crumbs before serving. Enjoy an indulgent sweet treat that the whole family will love!
Invite all of your friends over for a fun night of sampling different flavored Fig Newtons. Give everyone scorecards so they can rate each flavor based on taste, texture, overall enjoyment etc. You could even make it into a competition with prizes for the highest scoring flavor (or the most inventive name). It’s sure to be an entertaining evening!
Whether you bake them or sip them, there are plenty of ways you can join in the celebration on National Fig Newton Day! So gather up some friends or family members – or just enjoy them solo – and spend this special day honoring one of America’s favorite snacks. Enjoy every crumbly bite!
