National Organic Month happens on Sunday September 1, 2024.
National Organic Month is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than by familiarizing ourselves with all things organic? While “organic” has become something of a buzzword in recent years, there’s still a lot of confusion about what the term actually means. Here’s a quick primer: organic foods are those that are grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, GMOs, or radiation. That’s it!
So why should you care about eating organic? Well, for one thing, it’s better for your health. Studies have shown that organic foods are higher in vitamins and minerals than their non-organic counterparts. They also tend to be lower in toxins, which means they’re easier for your body to digest and absorb. Additionally, organic foods taste better! Because they’re grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides, they retain their natural flavor—something that’s often lost in mass-produced foods.
Whether you’re a committed foodie or someone who’s just looking to improve their diet, organic foods are a great option. In honor of National Organic Month, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite recipes that feature organic ingredients. From hearty stews to light salads, there’s something for everyone!
