March 31
National Tater Day happens on Sunday March 31, 2024.
Have you heard the news? This March 31st marks the celebration of National Tater Day! That’s right, it’s a day to honor everyone’s favorite starchy vegetable – the potato. To commemorate this momentous occasion, let’s look at some delicious dishes that you can make with taters. After all, what better way to celebrate than by eating potatoes?
For those of us who are short on time and big on taste, tater tot casserole is the perfect dish. All you need is some frozen tater tots, as well as your preferred protein (think hamburger or chicken) and any optional toppings like cheese, onions, peppers and more. Then mix everything together in a large baking dish and pop it in the oven until everything is nice and crispy. It’s so simple that even beginners can make it!
If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent but still quick and easy, loaded baked potatoes are definitely the way to go. Simply bake your potatoes in the oven until they’re nice and soft, then top them with all sorts of deliciousness like bacon bits, sour cream, shredded cheese or whatever else your heart desires. They’re also great for meal prepping because you can store them in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Craving something fancy yet still homey? Then twice-baked potatoes are just the ticket! Start by baking your potatoes until they’re nice and tender on the inside, then scoop out the insides into a bowl while leaving enough behind so that your skins remain intact. Mash up all those delicious potato insides with butter, milk and chives (or any other desired seasonings), then stuff that creamy mixture back into each skin before topping them off with cheese before baking them again until they’re golden brown perfection!
No matter how you decide to celebrate National Tater Day this March 31st, there’s no denying that potatoes make for some seriously delectable dishes. Whether you go for a classic like tater tot casserole or fancy up your spuds with twice-baked potatoes – or better yet create your own unique twist – you won’t be disappointed when digging into these tasty little treasures! So why not try something new this year? It’s spud-tacularly scrumptious!
